This Czech-Polish co-production drama starring Anna Geislerová revolves around a psychiatrist, Piotr. His patients’ problems fade into his own complicated familial relationships – when his son, whom Piotr has not seen for years, shows up at the clinic, his fiancée soon learns more about his past life than she wanted. All the characters are burdened by their past, which eventually rises to the surface, whether in the office, in domestic quarrels, or during a trip to Hel Peninsula on the Baltic Sea. Each has his or her own buried sorrows and fears – one seeks medical help, another tries to cope with them alone, but their root is the same: love, addiction, disappointment and hope.

THE RECONCILIATION (ZGODA) at cinemas now

Beginning of 1945, Upper Silesia, Poland. The last days of WW2. At the just liberated areas, the Communist Security Service eliminates its enemies under the pretext of punishing “national traitors.” It organizes a labour camp for Germans, Silesians and Poles, at the site of a former Nazi concentration camp, which is named “Zgoda” / “Reconciliation”. Franek, who is in love with a Polish prisoner Anna, joins the camp crew to rescue her. He doesn't know that one of the inmates is Erwin, his German friend, who, like himself, has also loved Anna for a long time. Franek joins Communists in the illusory hope of outsmarting the system.
